My first time visiting CT. Loved having a dinner there. Nice staffs and great food. I was very satisfied with my appetizer and main dish choices. Price was reasonable. When I got there, there were so many people that finding a parking spot was a challenging. Make sure to make a reservation before you head to the restaurant!
The food was excellent, starting with oysters for an appetizer. For dinner, I had seared tuna which was incredible and my son had a sirloin steak which he really enjoyed. The only thing that I was not crazy about was that we were seated at a small table for two that was bar height, on chairs that were also bar height and which weren't the most comfortable. Nevertheless, we will definitely be back.
Woodlands is the best! Amazing food coupled with great service make it a pleasure to dine there. Brandon has done a masterful job keeping the ambiance virtually unchanged (but I noticed tonight the banquets in the bar area have been beautifully recovered with new pillows). The menu is incredible: massive menu for a small restaurant...plus your serving size is wonderful! The vibe at dinner is always festive. Our family loves dining there. We have been patrons for years ...and Brandon has made it even better than ever!!!
Husband and I had some lovely cocktails and apps at the bar. The service was very welcoming and friendly and the dishes were delicious! His late parents used to come here for date nights. It's very nice and refreshing to see a place still doing so well over time.
While The Woodland is not very convenient for us from where we live (35 min drive), it is still one of my favorite restaurants in the area despite literally only having gone twice! First was to celebrate my husband’s birthday in December, and since it was not on his radar, it was a surprise for him, and also a surprise how much we both loved it. Fortunately, we had another family birthday in January! Our service was excellent and both servers discreetly brought the dessert with a candle on it. The Woodland offers a warm and cozy ambiance (perfect for two or four and for any occasion), with excellent food options and an extensive wine list. Our favorite appetizers, which we had both times, were the golden beet salad and mushroom flatbread, and all of our dishes (fish, steak and chicken) were exceptionally delicious! They also were great at swapping sides among us to suit our personal preferences. I will add that they offer the best dessert menu with a perfect creme brulee and key lime pie, among others. We have been recommending The Woodland since and look forward to returning often in the future!
Great little restaurant with an extensive upscale menu served in an old school atmosphere. Comfortable dining, an intimate bar, and friendly staff make for a great evening. I will be back for more lamb! Look to spend 50-70 per person while here, although the food will be worth it.
My sister and I went here on NYE 2023. We loved the menu. Everything we got was delicious! The soup and the ravioli I for had black truffle and it was delicious!! My sister got their classic pistachio crusted salmon. She’s ordered it before and really liked it. She also got the beet salad that looked so pretty. I’m excited to go back.
Once again we had the most amazing dinner at Woodlands last night! From the warm welcome, the comfortable table, great staff and the menu always offers a broad selection and the specials were great- We loved our starters- Oysters on the half shell with great sauce options and the fried zucchini blossoms were luscious. Don't miss the soft shell crabs while they are available, the Cajun Tuna was a special and just delicious as was the Veal Milanese with a wonderfully fresh salad. The wine list is broad and well priced as are the wines by the glass- I enjoyed the Sancere. The desserts are always great but we were so full from our dinner last night that we had no room! Woodlands is our favorite restaurant in the Northwest corner of Connecticut.
